Lasan gives FDA “a taste of Bangladesh”

The UK 's most discerning palates were given a taste of Bangladesh in the heart of Birmingham , when top food manufacturers and retailers descended on a leading Birmingham restaurant.

Over 50 professional food experts, all members of the Food Development Association (FDA) travelled from across the country to Birmingham 's own Lasan Restaurant to sample a “taste of Birmingham”.

The Lasan Experience formed part of the FDA's annual conference held at the Belfry Hotel, Sutton Coldfield, where delegates from some of foods biggest names get together to taste, test, discuss and enjoy latest developments and trends in the food industry.

Chosen for their authentic Bangladeshi food, cooking styles and ingredients, the FDA selected Lasan as an inspired choice for their delegates to experience the tastes, flavours and atmosphere of a true Bangladeshi restaurant.

The prestigious FDA boasts an impressive member list, covering many of retails biggest names including Debenhams, Heinz, Kelloggs, Nestle, Safeway and Thorntons . Representatives gather for the annual conference, and only the best eating establishments are considered for their visits.

FDA Operations Manager Anne Wright said, “After our annual conferences we like to visit well-regarded and popular restaurants within the area to sample some of their cuisine.

“This year we were in Birmingham and Lasan came well recommended. They specialise in authentic Bangladeshi food and ingredients, and we were confident this would be a delicious and useful insight for our delegates. The event was a great success and there was a lot of positive feedback from our members”.

Lasan Managing Director and host, Jabbar Khan said, “We knew that the FDA members would want more of a fact finding mission that a corporate dining experience, and so we made sure we gave them a varied insight into the world of Bangladeshi cuisine, and hopefully inspired them with the tastes and styles of Bangladesh – Lasan style!

The Food Development Association has members spanning a whole range of food arenas from Development Chefs, Food Technicians, Manufacturers, and Suppliers, all from some of the most well-known names in food and retail.

Their annual conference takes them to key cities in the UK, and it is at local eateries and Restaurants that they gather inspiration that might then appear in food halls like Marks and Spencer, or even on menus for Mac Donald's or Burger King.
